New Releases and Recommendations for Nov. 18

Sometimes the planets align and new releases pour from the heavens. Here is a quick run down on some of the latest flicks available on your Roku. As always, if you have a suggestion on the perfect lazy Sunday flick, please post ‘em in the comments. Happy streaming!

Netflix New Releases:

  • Limitless- Bradley Cooper plays an aspiring novelist who stumbles on a cure for his writer’s block, but it has deadly side effects (2011)
  • Take Me Home Tonight- A great comedy covering life and love in the financial boom of the late 1980s from the writers of “That ’70s Show (2011)
  • Page One: Inside the New York Times- Focused on the NYT, this documentary looks at the future of newsprint and the creative process (2011)

Hulu Plus New Releases:

  • The Office- Andy tries to fire up the team with a trip to Gettysburg; Robert California challenges the team to think way outside the box (2011)
  • Parks and Recreation- Leslie stalls a project in order to spend more time with Ben while Tom and Jerry redesign the Parks logo (2011)
  • The Cosby Show- Actually, eight seasons of Dr. Huxtable, his sweaters and of course…Jello pudding. Bahhhhhh (1984+)

Crackle New Releases:

  • Desperado- Robert Rodriguez’s explosive south of the border shoot ‘em up sequel to El Mariachi helped redefine the action film (1995)
  • Donnie Brasco- Depp and Pacino give a master class in acting chemistry via a tautly gripping, faithfully fact-based mobster masterpiece (1997)
  • Passengers- Anne Hathaway leads a strong acting assemblage in a puzzling mystery reminiscent of The Sixth Sense and Jacob’s Ladder (2008)

Amazon Instant Video New Releases:

  • Larry Crowne- Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts star in this optimistic comedy about how when you think everything worth having has passed you by, you just might find your reason to live (2011)
  • The Change-Up- Ryan Reynolds and Jason Bateman star in this outrageous comedy from the director of Wedding Crashers  (2011)
  • Pirates of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides- Johnny Depp returns as Captain Jack Sparrow (2011)

    I got a ROKU as gift from a friend cause I became ill and couldnt get around much and I love this system,I think it is the system is the best I have seen that came out and really made great since to the word technology and that it is not trying to reach into your pocket’s every time you use it.Thanks and to My Good friend for turning me onto your system ROKU.I have been with Netflix for years and it is great to play it on the TV now instead watching it on the computer………….. :)

    Forget Crackle – Message says it is not available in your location. Just watched it last week. Lots of posts about this on Nowhere Man too. Let’s get Crackle back ROKU!!!!

    Netflix why can’t I get the same home page that I get on my computer and not with ROKU the computer home page is much easier to navigate more friendly
