New Releases and Recommendations for Feb.17

It’s a great weekend to stream! Whether it’s marathon sessions of That ’70’s Show or Downton Abbey or some new releases from Amazon, there is plenty to watch over the three-day weekend. As always, if you have a suggestion on the perfect lazy Sunday flick, please post ‘em in the comments. Happy streaming!

Netflix New Releases:

  • That ’70’s Show- Need a marathon of awesome? Binge watch with all eight seasons of one of the greatest comedies ever. Just remember to hydrate (2005)
  • Bag of Bones- Pierce Brosnan battles a vengeful ghost for the life of a little girl.  Think Stephen King meets House with a hint of Bond  (2011)
  • Eight Men Out- A NYT critic’s pick, John Sayles’ adaptation of the 1919 Black Sox scandal stars John Cusak and D.B. Sweeney (1988)

Hulu Plus New Releases:

  • Wipeout- Winter Wipeout does’t get better than this! Contestants encounter Garry the Eskimo as they tackle the Arctic Circle (2012)
  • The Office:Tallahassee- Dwight takes his team to Tallahassee to conceive a new chain of Sabre retail stores (2012)
  • Parks and Recreation: Dave Returns- While seeking an endorsement from the police chief, Leslie and Ben run into Leslie’s old flame, Dave (2012)

Crackle New Releases:

  • Silent Rage- Before Chuck Norris was tough guy Walker, Texas Ranger he was tough guy Dan Stevens Texas Sheriff. Did you know that sharks have a week dedicated to Chuck Norris? (1982)
  • The 6th Day- Two Schwarzeneggers are far better than one as Arnold goes back to the future in a smart, action-filled return to form (2000)
  • 21- Kevin Spacey, Jim Sturgess and Kate Bosworth raise the stakes in one of the most gripping gambling flicks ever dealt (2008)

Amazon Prime Instant Video New Releases:

  • Five Minutes of Heaven- Acclaimed director Oliver Hirschbiege delivers an intense political thriller inspired by the life of former UVF member Alistair Little (2009)
  • The Fountain- Yesterday, today, tomorrow. Past, present, future. Through time and space, one man embarks on a bold 1000-year odyssey to defeat humankind’s most indomitable foe: Death (2006)
  • Misery- James Caan stars as a famous romance writer who is “rescued” from a car crash by an obsessed fan in this thrilling Stephen King adaptation (1990)

Amazon Instant Video New Releases:

  • The Rum Diary- Bruce Robinson’s adaptation of the novel by Hunter S. Thompson follows journalist Paul Kemp (Johnny Depp) on an alcohol-fueled journey across the island of Puerto Rico (2011)
  • Dream House- Some say that all houses have memories. For one man, his home is the place he would kill to forget (2011)
  • Downton Abbey: Season 2- With the wedding approaching, there’s excitement in the air – but will Branson’s plans rattle everyone? (2012)

    Just wanted to say I really love the idea of a New Release article! I am always looking for a new release schedule for all the major streamers but it’s not an easy find. InstantWatcher has the Netflix new releases, but having them all in one place would be nice! So thank you!

    Hmm… I guess Netflix must’ve pulled 70’s Show at some point, because I remember watching it on Instant Watch a year ago.

    To oldie but goodies folks. Columbo for the weekend.Or some more old goodies Kolchak the night stalker,Reporter,any Law and Order show they have it .The new movie called True grit. Cool to.Or how about a Vincent price Marthon.Or Perry Mason movies in the 80’s.How about PBS.Movies also not to old but they have some gems Midsomer Murders,Inspector Lewis,Torchwood Dr,Who the new and the Old.and a Touch of Frost.For the classic mysteries They have Alfred hitchcock presents and a gem I found Thriller with Boris KorloftI hope that this helps gl and Have a Marthon weekend with Netflix

    Thanks for posting this info. very helpful if only there was more kids stuff. Sometimes there is partial of a line of series of just half of one. More disney stuff.! For ages under 5 stuff.

    I really want a trutv channel and history 1,2 ive had a roku 2 xd for 1year and a half ive got atleast ten people to buy one i love it oh and u shoulb be able to use ur phone app to play games thank u roku email me at jshsdny@yahoo.com i have alot more ideas that would generate major fans and money thanks so much
