New Releases and Recommendations for June 1

School’s out, summer streaming is in, and a new month means a fresh batch of new releases! Time to kick back and enjoy the weekend. As always, if you have suggestions for the perfect lazy Sunday flick, please post ‘em in the comments. Happy streaming!


Netflix New Releases:

  • Dead Space: Aftermath- This epic animated feature centers on the survivors of the O’Bannon, which has lost contact with Earth in the year 2509 (2011)
  • The Killer Inside Me- Casey Affleck stars as a seemingly mild-mannered West Texas Deputy Sheriff with a “sickness” that turns him into a brutal, psychotic killer (2010)
  • Lost in Translation- Scarlett Johansson and Bill Murray are lonely strangers who find unexpected solace in each other’s company while visiting Tokyo (2003)

Hulu Plus New Releases:

  • Family Guy: Internal Affairs- Joe contemplates an affair (2012)
  • Bob’s Burgers: Beefsquatch- Gene steps into the limelight (2012)
  • House: Everybody Dies- Treating a drug addict patient moves House to examine his life, his future and his own personal demons (2012)

Crackle New Releases:

  • Hardwired- Cuba Gooding Jr. and Val Kilmer elevate a clever and slyly humorous Blade Runner-esque techno-thriller (2009)
  • Panic Room- Jodie Foster and Kristen Stewart share the familial terror in David Fincher’s perfectly paced claustrophobic thrill-ride (2002)
  • Balls Out: Gary the Tennis Coach- Sean William Scott volleys raunchy humor in an underdog spoof that does for tennis what Kingpin did for bowling (2009)

Amazon Prime Instant Video New Releases:

  • Restrepo- A gritty, feature-length documentary following the deployment of a platoon of U.S. soldiers in Afghanistan’s Korengal Valley (2010)
  • Tommy Boy- Chris Farley is unforgettable as Tommy Callahan, a rich party boy who makes David Spade miserable on a hilarious business road trip (1995)
  • Planes, Trains and Automobiles- Steve Martin and John Candy deliver pure comedy gold on an impressive number of moving vehicles (1987)

Amazon Instant Video New Releases:

  • The Woman in Black- A young lawyer (Daniel Radcliffe) travels to a remote village haunted by a vengeful ghost (2012)
  • Man Men: The Other Woman- Don is challenged by a pitch, Peggy contemplates a trip, and Joan entertains an idea (2012)
  • This Means War- Two covert CIA operatives are best buddies – until they both fall for the same woman (Reese Witherspoon) (2012)

    Isn’t ‘America’s Got Talent’ available via the web only, which would mean it is not available on a Roku?

    Don’t waste your money and time with the UFC pay per view. You will be ripped off like I was. Chopped in and out and froze the whole event. I complained to UFC and they just deleted my account. All Netflix videos played perfect, only the UFC channel was hosed. Even the pre recorded videos on their site did this, F the UFC.
